The International Database of Educational Objects is a repository created in 2008 by the Ministry of Education (MEC), in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Latin American Network of Educational Portals (RELPE) and the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI). This International Bank is a Repository of scholarly digital objects such as videos, educational games and softwares, animations, simulations, images and interactive maps, just to name a few. All of them are free of charge and for free access. The digital content is available for visualization and download to the educational communities in Brazil and beyond its borders, from primary school to higher education levels. This Repository is integral to the Teacher’s Portal, also part of the Ministry of Education’s actions.

The BIOE hopes to stimulate and foster relevant international relations by democratically leveling up the production and sharing of such Resources. In this sense, countries that have achieved a sound technological progress in education will be able to cope with others.

Another positive aspect is once there is a vast array of resources worldwide produced, educators and communities from all over the world can access and translate the objects into their native language, creating a collaborative space.

The objects within this Respository are accessible not only to the local and international educational administrators, but also to the educators and to the community that both creates and endorses this digital content.
